I voted for Bush Sr, even after he signed the bill that raised taxes and even after he said, "Read my lips, no new taxes," and then went along with raising them anyway. I also voted for John Kerry who voted many times for increasing taxes. I have no problem with new taxes, if I thought it was going to be coupled with reduced spending to close the deficit. But that never is the case, is it? One thing that has been proven to me repeatedly in my 57 years of life is that the government is hopelessly irresponsible when it comes to the use of our tax money. We're far better off putting our government into a noose on finances and monetary policy and letting the citizens decide what we'll do with our own money. At least, we'll get free market allocation of capital. When we give the government our money, they always waste it on garbage. In the last 20 years, the garbage doesn't really even benefit the 99% anymore either, but almost always the top 1%. While I appreciate the governments' focus on enriching people like me, I don't think it is exactly fair for my children's generation. So I'm getting hardened against giving our government more chances to burn my tax money.
