It's more than that. The gop controls the South so military spending means lots of jobs. it's the only jobs program they support and it's not needed. The idea that we're spending more now (in constant dollars) than when the USSR was around shows us the power of pure propaganda. Does the media ask them why? God no. It's like this on every issue. Did the gop have a health care plan? No. Did the media ask to see it? No. Did gop voters ask to see it? No. It's this mind-numbing idiocy that is the biggest threat to our way of life. Their SCOTUS makes it almost impossible for Dems to win control of Congress. The Democratic Party hasn't won once since they legalized bribery using Citizens United. They knew a Democrat Congress would give us a Democrat-controlled SCOTUS so they made damn sure it never happened.
