Maybe. Here's what I read somewhere. If you are a Baby Boomer, then you will get roughly 3X what you put into the system. If you are a Gen Xer, then you will get roughly half what you put in My comment was comparing the real rate of return on SS investment versus (Assume negative but could be wrong) what it would have been in a private account. I'm from the tail end of the baby boom and have been living on the scraps of that generation. I'm pretty certain we won't get back anywhere near what was invested since we've been paying in at the higher rates set up during Reagan for our whole careers.
