We have a new Contest leader!
The big winner in former leader AKOFNY’s portfolio, RKDA, took an almost 50% hit for the week, dropping AKOFNY from first place to out of the Top Ten ranking. Leapfrogging into the Contest lead from fifth place is ALIAS’s portfolio, up 40.91% YTD, with SPTAD’s portfolio, up 40.53% YTD, a hair behind in second place and MARKETH’s portfolio, up 29.42% YTD, moving into third place.
At Friday’s close,, the Contest median was up 7.65% YTD (vs. up 9.57% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -1.05% YTD (vs. down -1.68% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 4.48% YTD (vs. up 4.70% YTD a week ago), with the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) up 3.13% YTD (vs. up 3.52% YTD a week ago).
At Friday's close, 44 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 46 beating the NBI and 35 beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 5.33% and median YTD loss of -2.21%, with 109 showing a gain for the year.
