My worst nightmare. Thankfully, luckily, Charlotte was okay. I notice that you have a collar on Charlotte. Well, turns out that Harvey is a grand escape artist with just a collar and even managing to get out of standard harnesses, leaving me holding a leash with no dog attached.

I finally came across this harness. On checking my purchase history I see that it is currently unavailable from Amazon. If you decide this is the way to go (and I highly recommend it for an energetic dog), Buddy Belts come in two flavors. One is leather, the other is pleather (BB2). The leather is best because over time it molds to the body and is much softer than plastic. Comes in colors and sizes.

The description says "best dog harness ever" and I totally agree. It was $75 at the time I purchased it but worth every penny.

P.S. I think Harvey hates the car is because probably the only car rides he has known in the past have been to the Veterinarian's office. He still goes to the Vet a lot but I often take him for short rides just to go for a walk. So far, it hasn't helped much.
