Its not a carefully controlled study, but it shows relevant numbers, from non-cherry picked data (I used every year my source showed for Australia, then applied the same years for the US.

Yes US has different laws in every state but that doesn't keep it from having a national trend. The national trend during this time was to allow more concealed carry

Or he was wrong, in such an obvious way that he clearly didn't bother to check the facts before tweeting out about them. Neither outright lying nor being careless about the facts is all that unusual from politicians and Trump is if anything even worse than the norm here.
