TMUS and S merger: different this time by several big details and 5G is gonna blast off. Here's why.
EXPERIENCE TMUS and S have already gone to CFIUS and FCC and FTC and know their objections and are prepared with offsets to address those concerns.
REORGANIZATION AT SPRINT Sprint has extensively reorganized its balance sheet and has Michael Combes to engineer the details. Sprint hired Chris Felix to be its VP of government solutions, formerly of Verizon Staffing 'right-sizing' has aided the next stage of Sprint's growth via M&A.
MVNO is highly profitable versus Triple and Quad-play MVNO is effectively a quicker way to add subs using someone else's efforts without the CAPEX and ad program OPEX. Sprint has brought in International Outsiders to hold Chief title for many of its functions and they are prepared to assist the International reach and MVNO recruitment that will characterize the next phase of the TMO business to come.
Spin-offs and Divestments Masa has already moved to reduce the unwanted and objectionable operations of Brightstar and its Enterprise Biz from the deal with TMO. While it is premature to say that Sprint Enterprise is for sale, there hasn't been a press announcement, the announcement of hiring Chris Felix is effectively an announcement that Sprint Enterprise, especially its Government biz is for sale and Chris will have it all packaged up and ready for the next owner before CFIUS et al are completed with their reviews. You should expect it to be a bargaining piece in the negotiations. This divestment will remove the final objections to 'furriners' owning the largest USA cellular provider since the loss of Sprint Biz will reduce subs, and cut that critical government exposure.

fiercetelecom.com Sprint rebuilds federal, public sector market presence, taps Felix to lead new division Feb 12, 2018 Washington, D.C. Sprint takes a new stab at engaging with its federal and public sector customers. Sprint is rededicating itself to the public sector and federal government IT markets, kicking off new investments across its wireline, wireless and cloud service lines. As part of its reinvigorated public-sector focus, Sprint said it is going to increase market efforts with what it calls a converged solution portfolio that includes wireless, wireline, security and internet of things (IoT) offerings carried over the Sprint network. In tandem with the revamped public-sector focus, Sprint tapped Chris Felix to be its VP of government solutions and lead the effort. Felix has spent 27 years in the telecom industry, including serving the federal government and leading federal government sales and operations for a competitor. Prior to coming to Sprint, Felix served as the VP of federal government sales for Verizon Wireless. During his three-year tenure leading Verizon Wireless’ federal efforts, Felix established contracts with several federal civilian and defense agencies, including the FBI, Secret Service, GSA, the Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense... While Sprint’s public sector and federal market effort is new, the service provider is hardly a novice in the public sector, having provided government and public-sector solutions since the GSA issued its FTS contract in 1988. The service provider was also a contractor on GSA Networx Enterprise, which is the follow-on contract to the FTS contracts...
LAST, they keep getting quoted as saying: "All future CAPEX is 5G spend"
Well of course they'd say that. In effect they are saying that 4G build-out is complete and the next phase of capability all falls under latency and bandwidth. While that's not exactly true, if you're gonna go out on a date, you really oughta wear cologne or perfume. |
