Reggie,

>>MSFT may have to shy away from collecting gatekeeper fees via the use of their OS, but there is no one who can practically complain about their charging for thier own online properties. Why do you think they are will to fund these operations at a loss?

Online properties or web sites with attitudes? What do they have to offer for a fee that someone else is not already doing for free?

>> Because they will soon be VERY valuable assets with the right amount of traffic forced through them.

There is nothing human traffic loves more than being FORCED through another Microsoft strainer. This explains the need to "buy" mindshare rather than attract consumers with unique and innovative web services.

>> Expedia travel agency, carpoint virtual car dealer, MSN, MSNBC, and Sidewalk can and will generate significant revenue to spread around when 50% of all new TV's and cable boxes sold will funnel money spending users to them on an exclusive basis.

Who needs a virtual car dealer when real ones exist in every podunk town in the USA?

Travel agencies are everywhere on the web, I surf them all the time; what makes Expedia unique?

MSN - The best they can hope for is the Darwin Award next year.

In what way are users going to spend more on MSNBC next year than they currently do? MSNBC is hardly the only choice for disinformation nowadays.

Sidewalk - Why pay a surcharge to walk down a virtual street to get at your favorite website? Isn't that what bookmarks are for?

"50% of all new TV's and cable boxes sold will funnel money spending users to them on an exclusive basis."

Why should TV set manufacturers give MSFT any leverage when they can make their own deals with the Cable Companies? You are assuming that MSFT's "special" OEM license can be applied to any industry with the same effect as the PC. The TV industry hardly needs Bill to set their standards and control their use of them. Its more the other way around here. If Bill doesn't like what TCI dictates he can sell those 5-10 million OS's to somebody else. Plenty of OS's out there for embedded products especially when you are talking "Millions of units".

Take it easy,

Norm
