Do you think SS is a national checking account? It's not; it's a savings account, and, just like your own savings account, earns interest because somebody is paying to use that money. In the case of SS, that somebody is the USG, which has to borrow from somewhere.

The question is not whether or not we should borrow, but whether we should borrow from Americans, or more from China.
