It is an interesting topic and I wish I had time for the book now, but I don't.

But I'm not sure it doesn't boil down to plain old cynicism.

I simply do not believe every Republican in DC is there with the intention to screw the little people out of their life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Personally, I look at the ideas of many Democrats in government and think, "These people are fucking stupid." But I don't look at them and think, "They're trying to figure out how to screw everyone."

Take Obamacare, which IMO is clearly the worst initiative in my adult lifetime. Democrats were crooked in their pursuit of it, but the were not evil in thinking it was the best thing. They were just stupid. No one will ever accuse Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid of being intelligent. (I don't know, Pelosi and Reid not evil? My argument may be spinning out of control here).

My point is though that these people all think they have a better way. Republican politicians tend to be more intelligent and understanding; Democrats are dumbasses and small-minded. But they all think they have the solution.
