Single payer universal health care is not the answer. There are no checks and balances built into it and once started it gets a life of its own and becomes very expensive and inefficient. People start to think of it as "free" health care, guess what nothing is "free". Canadians talk about "free" health care all the time while having the highest taxes in the G7 and no military equipment. How long do you think that model would last if the US adopted the same system? "Free" health care is the number one expense of Canadian Governments AND there is no way to go in and streamline the system as protectionists unions fight every move in addition to ignorant public that think any cut back in funds = less service. I have worked for some of the largest corporations in the wold and there is ALWAYS at a minimum 20% that can be saved in inefficiencies. Giving governments more money is never an answer to anything, and if you truly think it is you are always free to write a check and mail it in.
