The Iran Hawks are the New Iraq Hawks
Many of the same people who boosted the Iraq War are now running Trump's mideast
policy. Trump’s decision Tuesday quickly drew comparisons to the Iraq war given the players involved, such as John Bolton, who was “confident" in 2002 that Iraq had hidden WMDs, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who told Congress that same year “there is no question whatsoever” Iraq was developing nuclear weapons. The disastrous decision to invade Iraq, egged on by Bolton and Netanyahu, still stands as one of the most damaging self-inflicted wounds in U.S. strategic history. Trump claimed to be a different cat on all this. But he has put the Neocons back into control. Dick Cheney must be so happy... along with weapons contractors.
