California becomes first US state to mandate solar on homes

I'm all for voluntary solar. But... I'm a sub-contractor. This is going to make it harder for builders. The total cost of taxes, fees etc on a new home is approaching 200,000 even now. Nobody in San Diego is building quarter million dollar homes as it is...

and we have a housing crisis.

They say it will save me $80/mnth... that's gonna be hard since my total bill now for electric AND gas is $50.
