So if one argues that the stock looks grossly undervalued for the long term, that's probably the right view.

Which just points to your personal bias of which views to accept and which to reject. There is no basis in long term views that a long term long view is the right view. Many argue that the stock looks grossly overvalued for the long term, yet you discount these long term short views as incorrect.
