Usually it is the incumbent defending the disrupter who is willing to lose money to get a foot in the door- This is an unusual situation in that the incumbent is slashing prices to keep from losing customers- Making the case for flexibility, footprint reductions and opex savings is hard to do with talk, and INFN is having to spend to demo their equipment to overcome the unknowns- That takes time and money when you are competing against someone who is slashing prices on the known- All we got was public alarm and dismay which made it sound much worse than it actually is which is exactly the opposite of what his job is supposed to be- INFN is actually in a position of strength but you would never know it from that CC : (
