Mr. Meetmer:

Normally I would have e-mailed you personally
with this response, but your address is no longer
in your profile, and perhaps the thread is really
the appropriate place for my response.
In Post #8055 you say:
"There seems to be a pervasive attitude that
deemphasizes accuracy but anomalously emphasizes
precision (i.e. 0.954). It would be much better
if Naxos just reported the value as .95 but got
the date right at the end of the article."
The only part of the news release that was my
responsibility was the conversion of the numbers
from PPM (parts per million) to troy ounces per
short ton (in mining, usually shortened to ounces
per ton or oz/Ton).
Since I received the PPM numbers with 3 sig-
nificant digits, it was not in the least incorrect
to report the oz/Ton in 3 significant digits. If you
believe this to be some sort of deceitful attempt
at "seeming" accurate, then you are wrong. If,
however, you were merely juxtaposing the inaccurate
date with the accurate numbers, then I hope you
at least appreciate that proper care was taken in
reporting, what in my humble opinion, was the most
important part of the news release.
In any case, I apologize for the date.
Please feel free to contact me if you require
an explanation of significant digits.
