5/11/2018 Contest update
Orthodox Jews practice the ritual of counting the 49 days from Passover to Shavuot or Pentecost. It’s called counting the Omer. Investors in Omeros did some OMER counting of their own this week as well: counting their profits. And OMER, the week’s second best Contest gainer, was not alone among biotechs racking up profits for investors.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 8.79% YTD (vs. up 3.94% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -0.16% YTD (vs. down -4.10% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 8.01% YTD (vs. up 3.13% YTD a week ago), with the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) up 7.24% YTD (vs. up 4.44% YTD a week ago).
Contest leader ALIAS’s portfolio, up 54.62% YTD, continued to forge ahead, with SPTAD’s portfolio, up 45.62% YTD, remaining in second place and ANDRE’s portfolio, up 35.06% YTD, jumping into third place.
At Friday's close, 48 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 48 beating the NBI and 32 still beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 6.75% and a YTD median of 0.00%, with 113 showing a gain for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe & fun Mother’s Day weekend biotechies!
No Contest update next week as I’m out-of-town with my wife celebrating my birthday.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
