The software that operates the network is one thing, but the commitment to "open source" code shared by operators to developers opens the door for new applications to be written that will wok seamlessly over the network- I think INFN is in great position on the hardware side, but I don't have a clue what companies are poised to take advantage of application development for the 5G/SDN open sourced network-
