NSCP depends almost entirely on browser or browser related revenues. Are you suggesting that NSCP corporate strategy is to quit the browser? Maybe you're suggesting there is a market in which MSFT doesn't have a presence. What's that?

No one seeks to compete. You end up in competition when someone else develops something similar to what you have. If you're there, you have no choice but to improve the product even if that means modifying the product to address the needs of nascent or different markets. You may eventually evolve away from what others consider to be head-to-head competition, but you're still competing for the available software dollars.

I'll answer the what's that question above. Cable modem transfer. MSFT is outside, almost in the cold here. They've tried desperately to get in by dabbling with investing in UMG, TCOMA, CE for settops, ATHM, among a few, but they haven't got it in the bag. They want to sell software in the cable access industry, but they haven't identified where that might arise. They are a mfger of consumer software and business OS, more like a consumer electronics vendor than a business solution provider. They're definitely trying to get into that arena with NT. NSCP has an a priori positon in the business solution provider market and must take advantage of their lead to exploit cable modem before MSFT figures out that the @Work concept will be imitated worldwide. Then, mSFT would be competing to catch up with NSCP.
