What will Intel's earnings do to the tech sector?

I've just read everything on the Intel thread. Alot of irrational exuberance and hype, but some good insight. The fact is we are still in a BEAR MARKET! Bear market counter-trend rallies are violent on the upside. I see Intel openning very strong tomorrow and closing weak! On the other hand, it was good news! At this difficult stage in the product cycle and transition to Pentium II, along with pricing pressures, Intel has demonstrated that it is NOT a cyclical company in a cyclical industry! The PE will eventually expand later this year. On Monday I bought some CAI.B ( Continental Airlines ) at $44.5. I think there will be a nice run up to the earnings report on 01/20/98, (acoording to Zacks).
On a personal note, I do love technology. In Greek ( Oh did those ancients know how to think! ) techne means " art ". The recent rise in semiconductor stocks is quite technical: they have put in double bottoms. In this environment, its safer and wiser to invest in larger caps. Micron Tehnology looks very intersting technically: it should be bought on pullbacks!
