Sprint Bonds and IoT Factory and DISH's Charlie Ergen: news-y and noisy
IMO Masa wants to avoid future Regulator interference in his business and will dump all Human Services in favor of pure M2M MVNO on the TMO business network.
Masa is in the process of drawing down cash from Sprint to pay back his bond holders, including himself and Softbank and Sprint Capital Corp. This reduces the EV of S and depending on forward biz and Regulator reviews leaves the enterprise ona ledge. I have stated a long time ago that Masa would sell what he could of Sprint and take the remainder private at pennies on the dollar. Shareholders could feel an effective $6/share price for effectively70% of the company and then get One Penny or Par Value per share for the rest. Caveat Emptor. Sprint shareholders pay attention!!!
Told ya.
Significant bits being revealed are: 1) the new devices procurement biz "MyDevices" that seems to be an M2M version of BrightStar, which is already for sale per Reuters, and 2) the design of its M2M devices including hardware security chips - a long time Intel promoted concept that is believed to give greater security than software sandboxes or Secure Execution Zones alone - the ARM technology approach to date. Of course chips designers have seen the malware attacks recently that make Secure Zones actually insecure - thus the approach for low-processing -power APs is adding extra security in the form of a separate MCU.
DISH appears very confident of his company and continues to say, in effect: "Trust the process." I continue to say: "Trust but Verify. Where are the FCC certifications of devices and software?"
I'd like to see SEQUANS involved in developing devices for DISH, for a fee of course. Is DISH one of the Strategic Partners/Investors GK referred to? Hmmm.... And given Charlie's confidence, is he partnering with Masa and Softbank after Masa gets his money out of Sprint? Hmmm....
