It doesn't surprise me that guns for you were as readily available then and they are now.....not so for guys like me who grew up elsewhere, eg Pennsylvania.....yes, that PA with all the hunting nuts..... fyi, a zip gun is simply a piece of metal tubing that would conform to the diameter of a 22 caliber bullet. The tubing (pipe) would be taped to a piece of wood that served as a grip and the firing pin was piece of nail attached to a rubber band wrapped around the wooden grip......good for one shot....
