The Chinese react to trump Tweets.
Using Tweets as a language of diplomacy, as opposed to the usual tools of trade, is meant to catch the Chinese government officialdom flatfooted.

Xi's men have no way to respond. For if it did, it would remove that veil of secrecy that guards China's foreign policy.

Xi regime is scared of that exchange as it will bare the Chinese regime in front of Chinese people.
