Robots fight weeds in a challenge to agrochemical giants

Apparently, several startups are building robots that go around the farms and identify each individual weed. Then they squirt the right kind of weed killer for that weed. This means that (1) Farmers could be needing 20x less weed-killing chemicals. (2) Reduce herbicide-resistant weeds. (3) Make healthier produce. And (4) scare the hell out of agrochemical companies.

The article has some pictures and a good discussion of the above points. I love it when technology brings both economic and environmental benefits.
