That's a tough problem. As Bob said, a reinstall of your operating system could fix the problem, but it may only be temporary if the problem is hardware related. Sometimes a bad disk drive controller can randomly corrupt files in your operating system (like video drivers). If you can boot to DOS (i.e. the "c:" prompt), you should immediately try to save any important files to backup floppies.

It's definitely not related to the Great Hacking of SI. Actually, "hacking" probably isn't a good term to describe what happened to us over the weekend, as it conjures up images of security breaches, virus outbreaks, and everyone starts getting paranoid that the gremlins are after them too. What happened to us was more like a sandstorm. Some degenerate threw a lot of crap at us, and our servers weren't accustomed to dealing with the abuse.
