Sercomm to raise capital through private placement

Aaron Lee, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES Wednesday 6 June 2018 0 Toggle Dropdown
Shareholders of Sercomm have approved the company's plans to issue either 48 million new shares or NT$3 billion (US$100.5 million) worth of corporate bonds through private placement as it aims to bring in strategic partners to further enhance its competitiveness.

New funds raised from the private placement will be used to retire part of the previous debts, to enhance its financial capability and to finance its long-term development projects, according to company chairman Paul Wang.

While acknowledging shareholders' support for the company, Wang said that Sercomm will continue to optimize its product mix leveraging its integration capability for hardware and software systems as it is striving to expand its market share globally.

In 2018, Sercomm plans to scale up its operations in Russia, Latin America and Southeast Asia in addition to its current focus in North America, China and Europe, Wang said, adding that Sercomm will also deepen its R&D efforts in the emerging 5G, AI, cloud IoT and smart energy sectors.

The shareholders also approved the company's plans to deal out a cash dividend of NT$3.75 for 2017 in which the company garnered an EPS of NT$5.38.
