Trump's considering a posthumous pardon for Muhammad Ali, who was convicted of draft evasion during the Vietnam War era. A pardon for Ali would follow one for another boxer, Jack Johnson. Ali’s conviction was overturned by the Supreme Court in 1971, and the boxing legend was among those given amnesty for draft-dodging by former President Jimmy Carter.

Trump reasserted that he has the power to pardon himself — something that legal experts do not agree on.
