Guy riding behind said it looked like I hit a rock (not hard to do. The dumbass Forest Service had bladed the road a few weeks back churning up lots of rocks baseball size and smaller) and it kicked the front wheel over the edge. Bike went about 6’ downslope. Fortunately there was a tree in the way that stopped the slide. That’s the top of my super, duper high-end Dewalt toolbox topcase you see in the photo.

A nice man in an ATV came by and we winched it out.

I was glad I left the panniers on. Otherwise the bike would have been lying on me left leg.

Some may say I’m too old to be doing this, but I say, “not yet.”
