You know, the solution of this problem is political. If it were managerial and financial, you and I could sit down together and draft a solution to the problem.

I like to think I'm pretty good at such things but I don't see any workable alternative that's not two tiered, haves with "insurance" or real insurance or self-pay and have-nots with a lean Medicaid. Which won't fly politically.

The only other thing is to get prices down to where they're broadly affordable. To do that naturally would mean a program to create a surplus of less-regulated providers.

Either way, we patients would require an expectation adjustment. As would single-payer. The difference is that the adjustment under single-payer would be post implementation when no amount of buyer's remorse would restore the status quo ante. The alternatives would have to be sold up front, which ain't gonna happen.

I hope something emerges.

Well, that's an improvement in presentation over Trump-will-magically-provide. <g>
