Trudeau is running for re-election next year. He hopes to win votes by standing up to Trump. Could be a dangerous strategy if he alienates Trump any further. Furthermore, Trudeau is detested by a great number of Canadians who can see right through his motives. Note how no Canadian politician including Trudeau has addressed the 290% farm tariffs Trump keeps mentioning. These are real tariffs and have kept American farmers out of the Canadian market since the sixties even though Canada has a so called free trade agreement with the US.
