Most definitely, I had been taking diabetic meds to control my blood sugar for years and then I went to a plant based diet......
A primarily plant based diet with some animal protein is what did the trick for me, and no more meds...
My A1C has gone from 6.7 with medication down to 5.9 without any medication as of last week's fasting blood test, and ALL the numbers are moving in the right direction... the numbers don't lie and they tell me I'm on the right track...
A plant based diet is as simple as it gets... that's lots of veggies, salads, fruit, and some meats, chicken, or whatever kind of proteins... I have a modest breakfast consisting of a choice from a menu of eggs, nuts, cheese, fruits, fish, then one meal mid afternoon, and then no dinner but snacking fruits, nuts, and whatever until breakfast the next morning...
I've also been using avocado oil instead of olive oil since it was discussed on this great thread a month or so ago, with the oil I take one or two red potatoes and make French fries and have a salad with it, that's become one of my favorite meals... AND I've also introduced raw honey frequently into the diet... raw honey means absolutely NO processing, simply taken right from the hive with the pollen and whatever else there is in that honey including parts of bees and whatever else... I would put some raw honey on my bananas for a great breakfast dessert and have that with walnuts after the eggs and/or other fruit...
On the weekends I eat what I want, e.g., pizza, ice cream, whatever, and no problems as long as I stay on track during the week...
