as far as leaders in the the market, asnd is not to be found. i tried to find a chart i
saw in a mag once, but could not find it. you would see pair, wstl, amtx/intc, and
alcatel as the leaders.

Blankmind... you appear to attribute ASND's lack of success in the dsl space to their product deficiencies but could it be marketing? They've been/were getting a bit beat up by CSCO in the RAS and backbone spaces which may have caused them to re-trench a bit. Now it appears ASND is getting the feet under them again which may allow them the freedom to enhance the dsl product line and to deliver stronger marketing messages.

I guess what I'm trying to say - long winded, I know - is "does ASND really need to spend the cash on new technology to get into a market targeted by niche players only or should ASND go it alone with what they have? Given Pairgains market cap (1.2B) and revenues <$250M it probably wouldn't make sense. But! I did look at Westell - it has $175M mkt cap and is generating nearly $100M in annualized revenues. The stock is trading at around 11 - down from an all time high of 27. I'm not sure what their market share is or how strong the product line is but this certainly looks to be worth investigating. What do you think?
