Yes, Mephisto, I strongly agree, with the voice of ancient experience, that illegal drugs are a waste of time and energy. I was more struck when I wrote you with exactly how many famous people's noses are falling off, rather than with exactly why.

I was just so excited to share all the stuff I learned at the library!!! I also found out that a recent study shows that alchohol and/or drugs played a major part in the lives/crimes of 80% of American prisoners. Since these are illnesses, and treatable as well, perhaps as a society it would be helpful to focus on getting people well rather than just throwing away the key!!!

And I also found out, in a U.S. News and World Report dated January 19, 1998, that more Catholic than Protestant women in America have abortions every year. I couldn't figure that one out at all, because of their sanctity of life ideals, but do you think maybe more Protestant women are comfortable with birth control? I was also stunned that in their lifetimes, 43% of women here will have an abortion. That's a lot!
