Dolby at William Blair notes - 6/13/18

- Analyst opened by highlighting the new initiatives growth rate of 100% - $30M to $60M to a forecasted $120M this year.

- Dolby Atmos is installed in over 3800 theatrical locations. A dozen sound bars. Highlighted progress this year with Samsung, in China, and last week with Apple TV 4K.

- Dolby Vision introduced in late 2015 with a TV from Vizio, then LG at CES in 2016 for their OLEDs. Getting to mass market TV's from TCL and the Vizio E Series, models as low as $350.

- DV content, over 300 hours of original programming on Netflix, over 300 titles on Apple.

- Dolby Cinema - Great explanation - It is a perfectly calibrated Atmos system plus a special version of DV that uses lasers to get to well over 1Million-to-1 contrast ratios.

- AMC has over 100 screens, two new operators announced today, one in UK with 7 screens, one in Germany with their first screen.

- Interesting description of Dolby Voice, it provides spatial location to voices versus all voices coming from a single conference room location. That has the impact of reducing fatigue in long meetings, since the brain has to process less.

Q&A

- Revenue growth forecasted at 7-10%, avg 8.5%, this year, en route to sustainable double digit growth.

- Competition across their products comes primarily from in house solutions that are simply good enough. Each area tends to have one or two external competitors, there is no complete solution competitor.

- Very interesting point when discussing HDR10 competition. Said they package HDR10 with DV, and they package many popular audio solutions with Atmos, suppliers get the full implementation when they go with Dolby.

- In UK, BT is broadcasting live sports in Atmos, Sky has followed. I believe he said the French Open was also broadcast in DV and there are many live sports providers testing DV. I need to research that, did not know this.
