6/15/2018 Contest update
Although fears the bull market will be shanghaied by a Trump trade war let out some of its air, the biotech and Nasdaq indexes still managed gains for the week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 22.09% YTD (vs. up 22.03% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 4.10% YTD (vs. up 3.20% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI), was up 14.52% YTD (vs. up 13.57% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC), was up 12.21% YTD (vs. up 10.75% YTD a week ago).
KMASTR’s portfolio, up 78.02% YTD, had another exceptional week and continues as Contest leader. THID’s portfolio, up 69.17% YTD, was hoisted into second place with a 20% allocation to VKTX, while MARKETH’s portfolio, up 65.70% YTD, held on to third place.
At Friday's close, 53 of the 62 Contest portfolios were still in the green, with 51 beating the NBI and an impressive 38 still beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 14.01% and a median YTD gain of 1.66%, with 118 showing a gain for the year.
