Bill, HPU/X, OSF, AIX,..... were all introduced by companies which had proprietary O/Ss, and STILL DO. I don't think he stated that the adoption of Unix on Tandem would occur overnight. The support of both NT and Unix on Tandem are survival and growth strategies. All of the O/Ss can co-exist as customer choices on same platform (not physically on the same system at this point). The Tandem system was/is incredible for its time and few systems today can match the redundancy and security of Non-Stop.... Redundancy that goes well beyond disk mirroring.
