I Agree Bob. I remember long ago when some of our biggest bank were lending to Mexico in a big way. If I remember right many write downs were taken by Citi & BAC.

IMO-Consumer health - It's also important part of the US consumer market & confidence moving forward. If Consumers can pay down that high credit card interest & loans. That would be an important factor moving forward.

Neither of my daughters have a credit card yet. The oldest just paid off her car loan. Redemption- I heard her say to me. Dad you were right. I should have bought a good used newer car instead of a Brand new car. Everybody's situation is different. The youngest just bought a brand new car, but she saved her money.

P.S. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel good when I pay off my debt. Must be part of learning from my Father who was a depression baby. He told me time and time again. I never want to owe anybody anything. It took me forever for him to get a credit card. He never had a balance.
