Roger-

IMHO, it's because reliability does not depend on whose hard drive you buy, at least as long as you're buying a major brand name. I admit I don't have the reliability numbers, but I believe there is not a significant advantage to going with any one of Quantum, WDC, Fujitsu, Maxtor. (I could be wrong, and would be very interested in seeing any published data people might have). Today I am sending a defective WDC 2.5Gb drive back today (they replaced it with a 3.1). And I've sent one back before, a 1.6 Gb off a Micron P150 system. The bottom line is the quality drives don't fail often, and the major PC box makers use quality drives.

(Painfully) long WDC, Randy
