Not at all, apply it full strength... I've been using ammonia on all my bug and ant bites for many years whenever they happen... full strength works immediately on contact and it's cheap enough so there's no need to weaken its effectiveness...

One time I was playing tennis and was looking for the ball in the grass next to the court... without realizing it I was covered from my feet up to and just above my knees on one leg with fire ants... I was able to brush them off quickly enough but the skin felt burned... I went home which was not far away and poured ammonia all over the leg, the burn and the pain were gone immediately...

Ammonia completely neutralizes the poison so it has a positive medicinal effect on the area bitten...

For several weeks after that my leg was covered with tiny blisters from the poison but it needed no medical attention thanks to the quick action I took with ammonia...
