it is bizarre

Here in Hawaii we have passed so many laws about recycling it's ridiculous.

First we banned paper bags
then we banned plastic bags and went back to paper
Now we sell heavy duty plastic bags that still get thrown out

The irony?

We have recycling centers are all our dump sites and most homes, condos, and businesses do recycle

Then it all goes in different trucks to the same landfill where it is dumped TOGETHER!

My island has more cesspools than any County in the US
Governor banned the cesspools and is requiring septic systems to be installed to replace all the cesspools by 2050($20,000 per home)

The top dog of the State dept of Health said twice this past month that the effluent leaking form the drain fields in a septic system is no less harmful than effluent from a cesspool.

Of course, we have sewer in some areas...like downtown along the coast. That goes to the west Hawaii treatment facility and then is dumped directly into the ocean and is more toxic than either the cesspool or the septic systems

No wonder people say gov't is bloated.
