I guess that means GE is going to go sideways or down for the next 3 years before the results are know and the stock prices pops...
No, not necessarily, but the process to attempt to 'right the ship' will take time and there are always the unknown variables that may play into the equation as well. It's basically all speculation at this point.

Any who were involved with IBM off it's lows or Disney
I personally think that's an 'apples to oranges' comparison...
