6/29/2018 Contest update Between ICE, SCOTUS and POTUS, there’s plenty to rant about this week. But, instead, I’ll “Let It Be” and post a link to this video: npr.org Meanwhile, the second quarter’s final week was a rough one for biotechs as well as the broad market. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 16.48% YTD (vs. up 23.15% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 2.88% YTD (vs. up 5.03% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 12.26% YTD (vs. up 16.91% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC), was up 8.79% YTD (vs. up 11.44% YTD a week ago). Contest leader KMASTR’s portfolio, up 74.37% YTD, bucked the bearish biotech bias and holding two of the week’s Top Five gainers actually gained ground. ALIAS’s portfolio, up 57.15% YTD, took back second place, while THID’s portfolio, up 53.03% YTD, moved into third place. At Friday's close, 48 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 46 beating the NBI and 34 beating the SPSIBI. The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 8.22% and a median YTD loss of -5.76%, with 108 showing a gain for the year. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: None. (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.) I’ll post my usual end of quarter summary data shortly. Enjoy a relaxing pre-Independence Day weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
