What Europe thinks about the castrated P-II-SX:
heise.de

"But only the result of BAPCo that is based on real applications,
is actually relevant in practice. Here even the Pentium-II-SX
with 300 MHz ran about 20 percent slower than the K6-233. Things
looked a little bit better in the game benchmark, where the
Pentium-II-SX-300 only missed the K6-233 by 5 percent. This does
not change the end result, however: a Pentium II without L2 cache
does not have chance of keeping up with a fast 586 processor like
the K6-233. Whoever believes that such a CPU offers good
performance for little money, is in total denial."

"..customers should be careful about buying a supposedly cheap
Pentium-II computer next year. If this `bargain' actually contains
a castrated Pentium II, the price must be extremely good to compare
to the price/performance ratio of a Socket 7 computer with L2 cache."

Ali
