No. I am just saying are you asking about biologically or legally? Those are two very different things.

And it isn't so much that Democrats are squarely behind abortion, per se. I don't remember any advocating roaming abortionists grabbing pregnant women off the street and aborting their fetuses or programs like China had where they more or less forcibly aborted women after they had one child.

They just tacitly recognize that some pregnant women will have abortions regardless of its legal status. Wealthy people will just be able to go to places where it is legal and safe. Middle class women will go to places where it might be legal or illegal and not so safe. Mexico, for example. Because it is timely, Harlan Ellison wrote a story from that time period, Neither Your Jenny Nor Mine. You should read it. Spoiler alert: she hemorrhages and bleeds out.

For poor women, coat hangers were the method of choice. Safety really wasn't an option. See above.

So they are going to happen. The idea of making it legal is so that women who otherwise would risk their lives, can have it done safely. Having options is good. Like having the option of birth control and readily available, which an unfortunate number of fetus worshippers want to make illegal too. Education is a big help. There is a tight correlation between education and less unwanted pregnancies.
