Sorry, Sam, I was trying to think of the future, I could be wrong. You on the other hand seem to be arguing that tomorrow will be just like today. A common investing mistake. And we were talking about how much AOL sucks, right?
Shoes, why do you think WebTV is the future? It is here right now. You yourself could practice what you preach and go buy one, sign up, and see for yourself what the "future" holds in store for you on the couch, having a frosty one. A common investment mistake is believing in a product that hasn't even begun to win any critical acclaim, establish any sort of critical mass, or shown its viability in the consumer marketplace.
The reason you believe WebTV is the "future," is because you believe it will take down AOL. Don't let emotions rule your investment decisions, another common investment mistake.
What the future does hold is faster PC's, LCD/Plasma montiors, better graphic chip sets, USB support, yada yada yada. Hell, maybe even the NC appliance will catch on. On top of all this, just because you have WebTV doesn't mean you still couldn't subscribe to AOL.
I guess it isn't clear enough: any access medium that goes mainstream to the consumer - that is dial-up modems, 56K x2 and flex, cable, ISDN, TCP/IP, xDSL, etc. etc. - the consumer will still be able to sign up to AOL! It's not just the access - there's gotta be more for this "killer access" theory to work.
Anyway, I think AOL broke 90 again today...
