System test aren't meant to recreate reality. They are at best an approximation. Their main purpose is to allow one to see how systems compare. I couldn't begin to cover all the information available in the reports. But most manuals cover them, well.

As long as you keep the settings the same, you should get an idea of relative worth of a system.

Suggested Settings:

System notes

Initial equity 10000
Positions Long
Trade price Open
Trade delay 1
Entry commission 25 points
Exit commission 25 points
Interest rate 0%
Margin req. 100%

Since you are testing for relative value, you should use % rather than points test.
