After I quit smoking for good, I started out walking and swimming. At first just 3 x 50 meter lengths, I slowly worked up to 20 x 50 meter lengths and since then swim 1 kilometer (about 1000 yards) 3 times/week (about a 25 minute swim). And walk briskly for 50 minutes to an hour 3 times a week, talking Sundays off. It helps keep the aches and pains associated with getting older at bay, and to see the glass as half full instead of half empty:-). Also, smoking and booze often causes impotence. I remember and quietly chuckled when I over heard some ladies complain about their spouse's drinking and resultant "whiskey dick";-). After you have quit smoking for a few months, if you smoked in your residence, I also suggest getting the walls washed and painted.
