The GOP never recognizes we live in a "society" and it is important to keep that society healthy by keeping the people in the society health; and that often means using the societies wealth for things like education and health care and shelter.

The wage issue is kinda cool. CEOs don't want to pay workers. This is showing up in the numbers again today. When voters force them to pay more, they pay more. Where does all the money that used to go to workers go? To them, the board and investors. Machines do the work, investors get the profits and the country declines (GDP is rapidly becoming irrelevant). How much a machine produces doesn't tell us much about the economy.

We'll need to switch to a system based on consumer spending to tell us how the economy is doing and forget GDP.
