<<The consensus seems to be .25M = Cymer! Right?>>

Doesn't look like that is necessarily so from where I stand. Intel has three new fabs making complex .25 micron geomerty pent2 chips, using iline mu lamps, these are not just DRAM chips. I thought mu lamps needed phase shift masks, lots of filtering and the yeild was poor at .25 micron. Intel reported the yeild at the fabs was good, it appears that .25 micron = Cymer not! If we have to wait for .18 micron for Cymer's lasers to fill the market we are in some serious trouble here. The Merced chip from Intel, planned at .18 micron is two years out at least and DRAM production at .25 micron can get by with iline. Does anyone know for sure if AMD is using Excimer lasers for their .25 micron K6 chips, and if so, what is causing the poor yeilds of the K6 chips that the company reported in the cc. Flame me if you like, but I want to know, what is the skinny?

Regards to all,

Ed
