Exactly, it is human nature and there are many studies that detail the effects of wealth disparity on the human psyche. As well as, there are many historical analogies to draw from. Many ruling classes have tried to fight it in the past. They can be successful at suppressing the lower class for quite some time, but eventually it has always ended badly.

I'm not debating which side is right and which side is wrong or taking about ethics...I'm just pointing out what I see as the reality of an unsustainable trend.

And yes the common reaction is more and more enforcement. But eventually the government goes broke trying to control a populace that they are no longer extracting enough money from AND/OR they unintentionally start creating martyrs and fomenting more anger that spurs even more unrest.
